Looking Ahead to December
No Comments

Thanksgiving is over but I refuse to join Christmas celebrations until at least December 1st.

I had all of today to do nothing but I feel really worn down. I cleaned my apartment, went to the gym, did a little baking. I’m always longing for free time and then when I get it I have no idea what to do with it. I always fill it with stuff, anything. I can’t ever sit still. I’ve never been able to.

I’ve got to be honest with you, dear reader, I just need to get my 250 in for the night so I can go to sleep. It’s that kind of post tonight.

On Saturday I caught an 8:00AM train home from Philadelphia so I could watch my weekly soccer game. Tottenham Hotspur was playing Chelsea at Wembley (which, for the time being is home for us). Way too much of my happiness depends on the fate of that damn soccer team. Luckily they won and a melancholy weekend was averted.

Later that night I went to the Frozen Apple hockey game at MSG, which is always Cornell versus someone. Some of the guys in my fraternity get a block of seats for us. It’s a good excuse to get together. Last year we beat BU. This year we lost to Harvard. It’s bad enough that I went to The Worst Ivy, did we have to lose to Harvard at a sport, too?

Although I don’t celebrate Christmas until December, everyone else has already started. My office already had trees in the lobby before Thanksgiving.

Speaking of the office, is there nothing sadder than the first Monday back from a holiday?

And with that lovely note, I bid you good evening. I’m exhausted.
