Shootings are now business as usual. We’ve reached a point where there are too many shootings for outrage. Even the memes and the arguments that I see online – the reactions to shootings, not even the shootings themselves – have become business as usual. Someone posts the “No Way to Prevent This” article from the Onion. Then someone posts about how we don’t need thoughts and prayers, we need real reform. Then my friends’ friends start posting about how it’s about mental illness, not guns. Like so many things in our country, we’re so firmly entrenched in our views I don’t know if anything will ever change. Nothing gets solved and our energy gets purged on social media.

For posterity, here are the details of the latest shooting. Nineteen year old Nikolas Cruz went into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida with an AR-15 – purchased legally – and killed seventeen students. This happened yesterday, February 14th, 2018.

I have nothing to say that you haven’t heard before.
